The Million Dollar Massage

Welcome to the January 2006 issue of Million Dollar Massage! I hope that you had a joyous and blessing filled Holiday! I live in NH and it was rainy and grey outside on Christmas. But the feast that I cooked and the love & laughs of family made it deliciously happy inside.

This issue will feature four Million Dollar Massage tips:

  • an After Christmas Sale
  • how to use Thyme & Oregano essentail oils
  • a funky leg stretch
  • Breast Rest - The Greatest Solution

Now that the big rush is over, it’s time for everyone to enjoy much needed rest and recuperation. January tends to be an unhurried month as folks re-group and get back into the flow of daily life. Because it tends to slow down it’s also the perfect time to work your massage practice and promote specials that will keep you busy for the next 2 months.

Today’s tip is to promote an “After Christmas Sale”. Post season sales attract lots of attention and this campaign is super simple.

If you do a mailing to 80 of your customers right now and 10% respond, you could bank an extra $400 - $700 dollars depending on how much you charge for the session. That’s a pretty good after Christmas bonus for you and your clients will be just as satisfied.

Follow these simple directions and keep your eye out for 2 fabulous offers that I listed at the end of the tip.

I wish you a prosperous and fulfilling New Year!

After Christmas Sale
How to do a Successful Mailing
It's best to do a postcard mailing (postcard stock comes 4 to a page). Your message will be short & sweet and the postage is much cheaper. Here are some easy tips for a successful mailing:

  • Keep it simple
  • Offer your client's $10.00 off their next treatment
  • Be sure to include an expiration date
  • Write a sassy ad

Your ad could look something like this:

AFTER CHRISTMAS SALE!

The holidays are a time to celebrate with friends & family but it can also be a time of stress & exhaustion.

REVIVE & REJUVENATE yourself with a wonderful, post holiday, healing massage!

Please take $10.00 off your next session.

Think about laying your body down, listening to soothing music and having the stress rubbed right out of your muscles.

It’s too good to be true.

Call today to book your appointment: 603-261-6998

Offer expires February 28, 2006

Special Offer #1: This campaign looks so much better when it's done on Publisher. If you are interested in the template for this postcard, I will send it FREE to the first 50 who respond. You must have Publisher in order to open it.

Special offer #2: If you are not comfortable printing all of this out, I will do it for you. You’ll get 80 postcards and 80 return address labels for $20.00

Again, if you mail out 80 cards and 10% or 8 clients take you up on the offer you could make an extra $400 - $720 Your cost: $19.20 for postage, a minimal investment for the postcards and if you choose Offer #2, $20.00 extra for the printed cards.

This campaign works and your clients will get a sense that you care about them to offer them an “After Christmas” special. Good Luck and let me know how you did.

Thyme & Oregano
Essential Facts about these 2 Powerful Essential Oils
Let's face it, we are in the cold & flu season again. Two oils that I keep handy in my office and at home are - Thyme & Oregano.

Both of these oils contain the chemical constituents of phenol, carvacrol, and thymol which are highly anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-microbial. Because of the strong properties in Thyme & Oregano, it's best to dilute with a high quality carrier oil (I use Jojoba).

The Great News about pure, therapeutic grade essential oils is that they provide healing benefits to our bodies without harsh synthetic side effects.

When a client complains of, "coming down with something" or exhaustion or even minor sniffles, I reach for my Thyme or Oregano. I simply place a few drops on the bottom of their feet followed by a few drops of Jojoba oil. (I might also do Raindrop Therapy which contains Thyme & Oregano plus 7 other essential oils). The oils are absorbed through the feet very quickly due to the large pores. In fact, the oils are able to affect the cells within 20 minutes of application.

Other reasons why pure, therapeutic grade essential oils are such healing agents for us are:

  • they are lipid soluble and can penetrate cell walls easily
  • they contain and transport oxygen and nutrients into cells
  • they increase the production of white blood cells which strengthens the immune system
  • oils with sesquiterpenes are able to cross the blood brain barrier, thus oxygenating the brain
  • essential oils have a bio-electrical frequency which helps to raise our frequency
  • Every aromatherapist has their favorite brand and I am no exception. I only use Young Living Oils because they are grown organically and are distilled with integrity. My suggestion is that you use a brand that you love and trust and you'll witness awesome results.

A word of caution with Thyme & Oregano - they smell very strong! I used Oregano on my husband just before Christmas and he politely asked me not to marinate him in cooking oils again LOL. By the way, even though he smelled like spaghetti sauce, his vitality greatly improved.

I just love incorporating essential oils into my practice and over the years I have seen profound results. If you would like more information on essential oils, please feel free to contact me. I have a couple of great books that I can refer.

    2 for 1 Leg Stretch
Provide ROM & a Quadriceps Massage in One Step
Here's an effective and easy technique to add to your Million Dollar Massage tool box.

    • stand at client's right leg
    • scoop up heel with your right hand and place your left hand under the knee
    • slide leg toward you until lower leg dangles off of the table
    • using both hands, massage quads using petrissage
    Repeat on other leg.

This technique will help to open up the hip joint and create flexibility to the abductors.

For another variation, try doing the massage without oil. Simply lift and squeeze the quads moving from the hip to the knee. Your clients will notice the "newness" of this technique.

Stay tuned, more Million Dollar Massage techniques will be revealed.
